START NOWEver since its inception, the TEAM Engineering Technical Seminar has proved to be a magnet for engineers, managers and directors from virtually all industry sectors. With some two hundred registrations, the eighth annual event, held at the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire on the 5th December confirmed this. The event showcased the best in UK engineering and manufacturing in the automotive, aerospace and defence, energy, medical, consumer products and industrial machinery sectors. TEAM Engineering Managing Director Steven Kane said, “It’s great to be able to show how some of our flagship customers have worked together with us to create effective and productive answers to engineering and business challenges. This confirms the importance of partner technical excellence in the successful implementation of PLM solutions.”
Joint presentations by TEAM’s engineering experts and its customers highlighted the best of innovation throughout the engineering process and explored how to address real life engineering challenges using NX and Teamcenter. With the BAE Systems Samson radome used on Type 45 destroyers as an example, Elston Engineering showed how knowledge and practice sharing contributed to bringing the design and manufacture of composite parts and structures into the mainstream.
Reigning World Touring Car Champions RML explained how it has been able to apply its winning mindset to develop high performance road car derivatives and advanced automotive technology for OEMs, working with TEAM engineering as its technology partner. Luxury British sports car maker Aston Martin, where TEAM are providing a wide range of NX engineering services, supported their presentation with the same stunning Vantage Coupe that took to the streets of London in November for the historic Lord Mayor’s Show. Nissan Motor Company , another major automotive company that TEAM Engineering support with NX engineering services, featured their ZEOD RC (Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car) hybrid electric racing car that will compete in the 2014 Le Mans 24 Hour race in a chassis similar in design to the DeltaWing that was featured at last year’s seminar.
Other industry sectors were represented, too. Biomet explained how their commitment to medical innovation in the design and manufacture of orthopaedic implants is underpinned by their relationship with TEAM Engineering. In their concept-to reality session, product brand and development creative consultancy 257 Ltd. explained how successful product design is rooted in how people feel about a product, how they hold it and use it.
Thwaites engineers explained how using NX has enabled them to continue to be the leading innovators in dumper vehicle design whilst Baker Perkins showed how they have continued to provide know-how, equipment and systems for the design and manufacture of new and traditional foods of the highest quality.
